WOUNDED LITTLE BUTTERFLY

Wounded little butterfly
Trembling in his hand
She couldn't trust just anyone
Why couldn't he understand?
Her little heart was beating
She couldn't catch her breath
Her fear of trusting anyoneÂ
Was a matter of life and death
Her wings were torn and tattered
She could no longer fly
She couldn't feel the wind beneath her wings
Or reach up to the sky
It was such a sorrowful sight
Trying to watch her flit and flutter
He kept trying to get her to open up
But she had no words to utter
Tears began to flood her eyes
As pain, filled her heart
She was trying to be so strong
But instead, she fell apart
His kindness and his patience
Began to soothe away the fear
She no longer flinched in terror
Whenever he'd come near
He said; Your wings have gotten stronger
It's time to reach up to the sky
It's time to put all this behind you
And spread your wings and fly
