The Writing of Freedom

The world is seen as nothing other than color

Seeing us as Blacks, Latinos, Jews, Whites, and Cambodians

Looking at us as nothing but these colorless figures

Trying to live our lives as people and not territory

Everyone thinking that we are gangsters trying to protect our territory

What territory other than the racial slurs that others put on us

We are freedom writers of many talents

Trying to tell a story of our lives

How we portrait our feelings of always being in a war

We look at life today as nothing but the color of one’s skin

Trying to realize that we are more than a colorless figure

Spreading our words out trying to end the racial slurs that are upon us

Everyday realizing we are the same kind

Whether we are a part of the

Black, Latino, White, Jew, or Cambodian ethnic groups

We are people of heart and suffer our ways into this world of hatred

Wondering if we are truly here too find who we are

Teaching us the methods of one teachings

It takes one to start us up and hundreds to follow through

Teaching us the rights of looking outside the box

             rather than inside

Following the truth of how we have come here today

Taking our lives to a new level

We are more than colorless figures; we are family

It shouldn’t take one person to set the problem straight

A problem to forgive the racial slurs,

and the territories that have spelt upon us

Just one story tells the truth of our world today

A story that gives us the reason of living in this world

A story of, “The Freedom Writers Diary”
