Yesterday

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  YesterdayĀ
Yesterday we were alive, young, and freeĀ
Laughing and dancing like the wind and sea
Yesterday we were young, foolish and ignorantĀ
Not caring slightly for what was importantĀ

Somehow we thought our friendship was the blastĀ
So we never realized that we were known as outcastsĀ
We were so involved in our own little worldĀ
That we did not realize our friendship was like fools goldĀ
It was golden, wonderful, and surrealĀ
It was anything but the real deal

We laughed, gossip and talkedĀ
Hand in hand through the hallway we would walkĀ
All of our little secrets we would shareĀ
All of our insecurities and all our fearsĀ

Today I Ā am sad, alone and betrayedĀ
To learn that our friendship was nothing but a facadeĀ
Today I am older, wiser and strongerĀ
But I wish our friendship would last just a little bit longerĀ

I often like to sit down and analyse what we have becomeĀ
And it hurts my heart to see that we are no longer are one
Sadly I must accept all of our times together are done

But no worry tomorrow is another day
Maybe someone else will decide to come my wayĀ
But until then I will relish our memories of yesterday
Ā

Thank you. It good to see others able to relate to my poetry. Inside school the teachers never liked my poems. No matter how happy the topic was in was the kid who wrote the opposite. No one understood my views.

Well the teachers were idiots. Goes to show you that teachers are very closed-minded! Ā I didn't have school! I mean, I went and made decent grades but I was everyone's punching bag and when I told my mom, her reply was, "if you'd keep your mouth shut, they wouldn't have a reason to pick on you!" Ā That was my mothers help. And teachers, ha, in first grade I had two teachers beat me with a paddle over a period of 45 minutes! When I was 12, my mother threw me out to the streets, so when I say I was alone, it was really an understatement! I love your poetry! Keep writing, dark or bright, just write! Ā
