You Had Me

You Had Me

You told me not to worry
And that we would be fine
And regardless of your schedule
You would always make the time

You said not to feel vulnerable
And it was only me
But then you met up with your past
And we changed drastically

I forgave you for whatever
I’m not sure what that was
But I still cared
and that meant more
So I forgave you just because

You make me smile
You can be sweet
I liked what we had going
And whatever else we could’ve been
We’ll never end up knowing

One of those poems that can bring a smile but also some sadness when you read it.
The ups and downs of relationships and life really captured in a flowing way here. Well done!
