Poem -

YOU OWE ME

YOU  OWE  ME

The things I've done for you, so I've been told,
hung on to your every word, until it was absurd,
followed you around like a lapdog - where to?
to the ends of the Earth - so what's it worth?

I must labour for no reward, accept it all,
if I'm lucky, then something may happen magical;
does it sound familiar because we're a team,
but then not everything's as it might seem.

We're tolerant, must accept most things in our stride,
we forget that someone is supposed to be on our side;
however, there are supposed to be limits to endurance,
that's why you seem to look at me from a distance.

Let's forget all these things, justĀ like a nickel and dime,
although maybe one day I'll tell you - you owe me big time.
