Young men

Young men

The motto of the afternoon
Is daylight through the wind
Where others who need to absolve
And build a love within

Within itself – where solitude
Is clearer than the day
And yet – when night-time lends itself
It’s more than what’s portrayed

In mirror – one’s reflection sought
Is hindsight in one’s soul
That renders moist a need to vent
Outpourings from the whole

The whole is but a part of what
Is seen in ocean’s far
Where one will reach beyond to feel
The night-sky and the stars

A star – a soul – one’s loneliness
Over-ridden by a thrall
Like a man with pants around
A leg pressed ‘gainst a wall

The motto lost – the daylight gone
One’s lover soon to fold
Past adventure – it is clear –
Young men – in time – grow old
