Little fish

Suffocation is the key to staving the flame.
Oh little fish,
It is time you wake up from your glory days,
There is still so much you haven’t learnt
Don’t you know you mustn’t bite at every hook in the sea
You don’t have to bite at one, nor any, nor ever again
Fore if you bite your giving the fisherman what they want
You must remember...
Suffocation is the key to staving the flame.
No longer must you fight for your belief of the world,
No longer must you persuade the sharks to see differently,
You must know understand the sharks point of view,
See them from their heights.
But you need not say. Not ever.
Suffocation is the key to staving the flame
You might feel the passion rise inside you,
You must swim away from the hooks
Find your own path
Find your paradise
Suffocation is the key to staving the flame
Oh little fish, how far you have come,
From the shallow waters full of predators
You grew stronger and harder.
But when you found calm you didn’t accept them.
That lead you to exclusion and hate
No one to treat you in time of need
A community made rotten by fake love, popularity and lies
But from you crevice in the rock, you found light
But the cave was crumbling around you
Only escaping with the clothes on your back
And the accusations that never hit their mark
A wound left untreated open for a lifetime
In your new world where many don’t understand
Hiding your bruises and beatings
You must never show the scars
Never leave vulnerable
They don’t understand how broken you are
Salt in the wound
Oh little fish you have come across a new challenge
Not needing to be accomplished
You must sit and ignore
Forget the fisherman’s wrong doings and forgive,
Suffocation is the key to staving the flames
And I am the fish and the flame is the boy

Based on a true story please like if you liked, the fish is in a dark and confusing place, please show your support
exceptionally versed. Welcome to the cosmos
Thank you, you have made the fish’s day!
This poem hit my core, I feel like the little fish who always takes the bait... I always rise to harassment and fight for people to see their mistakes but it never ends well, for me at least. This reminds me of what my ex always used to say 'dont be brave, just let it go'
Wow Bell! I'm really touched that you chose this one to comment on. Your also the first to absolutely hit the nail on the head with its message. It means so much to me for you to comment. This was literally my first write on here so I still hold it really dear. Kind regards. Best wishes to you Bell TFOTS
what a starting line Max! I liked how you repeated this throughout. It felt like a personal mantra, you were teaching yourself a new perspective. It also made me think of suppressing ones feelings so as to not risk taking any bait. Yes we shouldn’t take peoples bait. But we also shouldn’t suppress how we feel. I sense a longing to see brighter days. Quite the melancholy read. I had to pin as this speaks of your journey which I admire so much. You are doing so well my friend
Gwen :)
Hi Gwen! Sorry it took me so long to respond! Weekends are for family for me... I'm really chuffed that you searched to find the Little Fish Series, really it means so much. But yes, that's it in the essence... teaching myself not to rise to others... and choosing to suppress myself did simply mean to isolate and move away from my so called friends... neither helped... perhaps poetry is the balance for me, to express how I feel away from toxic people in a new environment. Yes that seems to fit for me. Glad you connected with this one! Peace and smiles to you always Gwen
You found your new world, located your path and have now risen and been tempered steeled to face any challenge.
'Suffocation is the key to staving the flames' the key indeed, to be unshackled from past history,
A mantra most certainly offered up to help one through, also reads like a baptism and cathartic moment in a life to find a little clarity and a purpose to get you through every new day and whatever calls on you or confronts you.
And it usually in life, it is a mixed bag of good and its polar opposite.
You have found your balance Max and it is good to read and read it thriving.
Will be reading more as the day progresses later and maybe hopefully catch you tonight if you're on here.
Hope all is well in yourself my friend and journeying here was well worth the trip and well rewarding.
Shaun.
I find looking back these days bitter sweet, on one side of the coin I still feel immature and on the other I feel so experienced. Either way I still have a lot to learn about others and myself. Suffocation is one way to stave the flame, but it's sometimes he warmth that you really need to let into your life. Thank you for thinking I've found my balance, everything's a working progress for me and I'm still learning to enjoy the journey and not wait for the end result. But really, writing this one is still a part of my soul. Glad you enjoyed it mate~
