Modification (Part 2)

Modification (Part 2)

Daylight began to dim as Addison turned down the narrow street. She had  become
lost by her own inner commotion. She wasn't surprised at all to find the street looking like it had been hit by a monsoon, there were vehicles everywhere. She had arrived late, the directions that came from her phone had malfunctioned and she'd somehow ended up a few blocks away.
There was certainly no way in hell she was going to be able to find  parking now. She should have known that Tori's invitation was released to anyone and anything. She scanned
the area to see if she could spot Jenna's car, but she was no where in sight. Now impatient, she decided the best thing
to do was try and find a spot further away. Much to her dismay, she was just going to have to walk it.
She reached for her mobile phone and dialed Jenna's number, but there was no answer. "This isn't happening,"
Addison cursed into the phone. She was also regretting her choice on the heels she had worn. It wasn't going to
be a pretty sight if she were to suddenly stumble, the shoes were going to sabotage her gait. She grabbed
her handbag and stepped out of the car, then smoothed out her dress which now was in a state of
its own. In the distance she could hear the faint sound of music as it
echoed through the neighborhood. She headed down the footpath towards its lure as the sunlight faded, it had
become quite dark and she had to squint to see where she was going.
Her anxiety was now at an all time high,
it certainly was a big contributor as to why she suffered such low self esteem. With no Jenna to
act as a security blanket she would just have to brave it alone. As she turned the corner there was no mistaking the shrine that instantly blinded her.
The house was spectacular, its array of outdoor lighting lit more brillianly
than Christmas. It's impact left the rest of neighbourhood looking as though they were in a third world country. This was so Tori she thought, always the attention seeker. As Addison stood there stunned, she felt as though she were about to enter an alluring  time zone. She fumbled with her bag and reached
for an envelope that contained a card with some money. She wondered if the gift was enough, it certainly wasn't hard cash, what if she looked stingy?
The last thing she'd want was to become the focus of a gossip frenzy. Again she rummaged around in her bag, hoping that her small compact mirror would somehow attach to her hand. It was pointless and she shuddered at the thought that the colour of her lipstick may well have transferred itself to her upper teeth. She ran her tongue along them, horrified that her smile may well reveal a hideous sight.
Addison knew there would be no scenarios to fall back on if she
stuffed up, She had to make a good first impression. With that thought in mind, she pulled herself together, walked up the front steps and nervously reached for the door bell.
