Golden Hearts
For Marion
When tears pour forth from golden hearts
And spill, as ink, across the page,
We cannot help but feel the pain,
The hurt, the anguish and the rage.
We cannot help but feel aggrieved
That god should fail a golden heart,
To choose to crush and pound at it
And then to rip it clean apart.
The soul that holds a heavy moon
And stands amidst cascading tears
Is one that knows the bitter truth
And is a soul all gods shall fear.
And we must never hide our eyes
From bleeding souls that write so brave
When tears pour forth from golden hearts
And spill, as ink, across the page.
