4am

4am

It's 4am and I lay here silent
I'm awake, I'm numb and motionless
Because I know you lay silent as well
For in your heart he made a huge dent

Your childhood was broken
By the words he yelled and
The things left unspoken
The responsibility to love was not one
In which they felt compelled

You are overlooked and out shined
In their dark narrow minds
Would they turn and run
As you quietly held your gun?

In my eyes your image reflects
The years of pain and neglect
We stole your heart away
And here with me it shall stay
