A Dark Place

A Dark Place

In the desolate depths of a perilous place,
a creepy man lurks with a frown on his face.
Never dare–never dare–to approach his dark lair
for he’s waiting–just waiting–to lure you in there!
...
He skulks deep in shadows, relentless and riled
in his search for a tender, moist edible child.
With razor sharp claws and slathering jaws,
he will drag you inside, then there’s no hope at all.
...
Not too many have entered his deadly domain
to have ever come back to their loved ones again.
Children make a fine feast for this butchering beast—
Oh, he’s waiting–he’s waiting–to indulge in his sin!
...
Such a sulphurous, sunless, sad sinister place,
he will crush all your bones in his evil embrace.
Never, ever go near if your life you hold dear.
Please run if he comes for he’s lurking quite near!
...
This monster I write of appears very nice.
But his grip will not slip, like the strongest steel vice.
You don’t know it yet but you’ve gazed in his eyes.
Surprise, he is me–don’t you like my disguise?

Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-hee-hee-hee…

If he, meaning human, then I've seen the depths of disgrace, I've stood in its lair and watched, I've watched, never will I take part which makes me think, am I human at all?. Fantastic poetry Dean.

We're all human therefore prone to human frailties, Gerard.
Lord knows, I have my share of faults. But at least I have bits enough to admit it.
I think pedophiles are the most fearful, vile monsters who ever walked the face of the Earth. Much more so than anything Stephen King himself could even conjure up.
Thanks very much for reading,

I get images in my head of all the children of the world lying dead, there souls in a beautiful place while the snarling pedophiles lust over there corpses screaming as they roam the desolate earth.

Then I did exactly what I set out to do in writing this, Gerard.
Thanks again.

Thrilling and mesmerising. Is this about man, is this about greed, about a monster you fear? A piece to reflect on.

All of the above, Mai B, although I would never, as a father of five, dream of harming a child.
There are a few adults I'm not too sure about however.
Thanks so much for reading.
I appreciate the feedback.

Dean Dean Dean,,,,The photo alone draws you in to want to read, you have some real talent for fitting your photo to your dance of verse.  And of course the title, well we know you like to write in the 'dark'...lol
I really enjoyed it, hair up on my arms on the last lines!!  I love rhyme verses, so I'm hooked every time......

Hey Faith.
You scared the bejeezus outta me!
When I see my name written three times (which is all I could see from the front page), my mind automatically goes into safety mode, thinking,
Uh-oh! Okay, you idiot. What have you gone and done now?!?
I was happy to learn it was just a response to my poem, heh-heh.
I think pedophiles are pure evil--through and through. They're the worst type of "monsters" there are because they actually exist.
Thanks for reading, I really appreciate your insight.

That's my specialty, Anon Yeetermanye.
Freaking people out, heh-heh.
Seriously, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to read and comment on my work.

I think this tells a different kind of strong story it’s meaning has purpose yet it opens your eyes to a deeper sincerity of a person troubled in their own mind

Thanks for reading this one, Jeff.
You may interpret the meaning any way you wish, my friend.
What a poem speaks to you after having read it is the most important thing of all.
Take care,
~Dean
