A Journey That Never Ends
A journey of a thousand steps begins with the very first step
When the seed of life grows into promise of our land, we step foot
Where the tracks are not just of man kindÂ
Nature takes path along side of us, above us, around us, below us
The streams across the mountainous valleys, there
the horse has pioneered from one land to the next
The way of the sun and the moon tell us the day is bright, and the night is dark
The trail of tears of men, women , and children destine
to surviveÂ
Harsh weather, bare feet, old women and men, become sickly
No where to make a bed, for the tribe now shamed to find a journey not of choice
The wolf follows in the shadows of the pines
As the eagle soars to guide the way safely
The cornmeal bread leaves trail, as the crows pick up the pieces along the way
Whithered skin, sweat upon their brow, they feel the heat each day
Burning their tired feet, as they meet the stream to wet their lips and have drink, and bathe.
It feels like thousands of miles in the wind, while mother natures spirit sings
Songs of dance, it gives peace in a spiritual chant of mercyÂ
Where my people would no longer fear death, they walked so far not to be scarred
The pride of the native people never stops, its journey never ends
Let the wilderness gather round to hear our voices
As we walk tall, we walk together, never alone, we shall walk on
