Poem -

A lesson in love.

Whispering voices have come around again,
they should be in my ears and not in my brain,
breaking me down and spinning around,
speaking of some forgotten ghost town,
walking on her street and to her door,
didn't stop to knock with eyes on the floor,
the love we had won't leave my heart,
I'm stuck in time and looking for a restart,
her memory is dragging me down into the abyss,
my lips bleed absolution for the taste of her kiss,
the pain won't stop if I ceased to exist,
my hell would be her beauty appearing in the mist,
I'm halfway around the world,
and my soul is twisted and curled.

My copious conceit had no place to hide,
you once laughed at my stubborn pride,
I was a dead man walking when I let our love decay,
tied to a bloodied birch tree and body flayed,
the thought of you and I'm spinning out of control,
gravity hurling me to a distant black hole,
I'm halfway around the world,
and my soul is twisted and curled.

A kick in the head, and I fall into a worn out chair,
staring at the bare walls I see your portrait there,
cherry blossom tree is crying for me,
and summer winds won't set me free,
I'm choking on your smoke in my cracked mirror,
self forgiving tears make things clearer,
it was only you for that sweet short time,
my naivety was my only crime,
I'm halfway around the world,
and my soul is twisted and curled.

All those lonely nights in our bed,
too many to recall, I thought you were dead,
you were always a queen and I was your pawn,
but you always came back before the dawn,
my sails unfurled in treacherous weather,
chasing an abandoned sunset and seeking shelter,
I thought I had found my one true love in you,
not knowing I was standing in a queue,
reflections of you and I'm losing control,
shattered pieces that can never be whole,
I'm halfway around the world,
and my soul is twisted and curled.
