Black Fur Coat (Mother, I think of you often)

Black Fur Coat (Mother, I think of you often)

You have faded away like last nights perfume;
like the still night that gives way, to a bustling sweet morning.
But, to hold back the last remaining tears for you;
would cost my heart dear, and so, I must let you slip away.
I carry your darkness everywhere, like a black fur coat;
that I wrap around my shoulders to keep out the chill.
In the deep pockets, I hide my hopes and my dreams,
lying at the bottom, broken, in tatters, and in shards.
And now, your feet dance on the stars, with angel kisses,
leaving snowy footprints in the silvery dust; but
within my soul, there you are, my silent painful breath;
melting away like the candles I light each year.
