Buried Love

In you was a buried love that
I've been trying to dig out of the dead relationships
with people who believed love to be 
a ghost they had seen
they say love heals the brokenness 
but some of us are just so broken
that we can't withhold the love you evoke 
from our hearts 
everything slips through our cracks
and drains away.

Losing someone unexpectedly 
is hard at any age 
people telling me to 'move on'
but i'm stuck on the same page
wondering how my life may have turned out 
if that certain person had stayed 
yet I was refusing to move on to the next chapter
stuck in a fairy tale world of 'happily ever after'
my soul always knew what to do 
in order to heal my heart
it was my mind i had to silence 
yet it was tearing me apart .
