Childhood Legacy

Childhood Legacy

The pain cuts so deep:
The mental wounds that were inflicted
In childhood.

You grow up with scars
As Larkin said
“They f*ck you up”.

You can never know
What impact
Your childhood had.

The guilt.  The shame
Wanting to be free.
The mental chains.

The indoctrination
Parents instil.
Can I get independence of thought?
