Dancing with the Devil

The devils arms soothed me. You were fallen. From a darker place. And I wasn't afraid. Safe in your arms. I was given enough of you to pull through. Now you're a withered dream. Silence takes your place.
The difference between a medicine and a poison is the dose. You pulled away as we got close. We both knew I would overdose.
Dark heat. Always between you and me. Misery loves company.
Are you pleased as you look back. At me. The hilt, plain to see. I knew that I wasn't alone, she was never in the friend zone. Still I crave you, like all addicts do. You will always want what isn't good for you.
I weaned myself. But the thirst is a creature unto itself.
I know you want me too. The road goes both ways, I think about you most days. Nothing effects me like you.
Craving prescription medicine I don't have a script for. Tell me how I can score.
I've tried substitutes. Willpower. Meditation.
But I need your medication. My head is a television and I wish someone would change the station.
You're a moth in a cocoon bed, not wanting to face his transformation.
You were blinded and weak minded.
You thought I was too good for you and you abandoned me. It was a self fulfilling prophesy.

Hey Tina, seriously well done, I`ve not seen this much imagery and cool phrasing in one poem in a very long time, bravo....I could pull quote from `many` places, but this one got me to finish the read....real special poem, you always seem to brush a fresh approach...good stuff, well written
