El Dorado

El Dorado

A once flourish of beauty and music
But time clumsy as it was did loose it
Not even a photograph
Could bring forth a voice for child did laugh
A mother did sing
A man hath gift given a ring

Science and literature the Bell of knowledge chime
And it hath sunken beneath earth soot and slime
Not even a fossil now
Mother Nature takes a bow
With witch a foot pad speckled forest floor
A vine hath stretched up toward the sun
A once greatness time is done

Waves hath crashed upon its chores
Mud hath caked upon its doors
Not even a memory ever
A page has torn and now hath severed
A language lost to all The tongues
A civilization squeezed throughout has rung
Forgotten place where are you now
A sunken boat with broken bow
