Fear riots
(Photo by Marie Swann) Poem written for International Violence against women and girls day
Smoke tendrils creep through the night clinging to cool crisp breath.
The moon trembles in violet skies, where stars crumble, falling to ultimate demise.
Twilights walls are decorated with blades that glint so sharp but, sing so softly.
Yet, the voice I hear, so sweet, slides a horizontal cut across the heart.
The scars on the mind, a rose bush maze of infinite journeys, a secret place.
Thorns dig deep to leave their paths that twist and turn, forever etched.
Dusk brings tender hallowed tears that have no weight, but carry heavy feelings;
To sink the soul to the depths of the ocean where light dies over and over.
It is there in the dark, when street lamps string like amber fairy lights and;
Silence descends to blanket the earth with her screams, that fear riots everywhere.

WOW!! MARIE!!....this is truly brilliant poetic prose......with phrasing that sings and elevates the subject matter into the light where it is revealed as the treacherous abuse that it is......and in this light it withers under the mighty pen of the author!! MARIE we have missed you around here......what you have done with this poem is most deserving and in my humble opinion should be on the sides of buses and buildings the world over......for it is not spoken about enough out in the light!!.....ALL STARS! & PINNED!!.......fantastic work dear poet sister!!......I hope to read more from you in the future!!......well done!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo : )
Truly kind words and I thank you so much.
I tend to not write as much lately. Not as much as I used to do. When I do write, I quite often just write them in a book and not share them. It is however, heartwarming to hear how much someone has enjoyed my scribblings. Kind regards xx
I’m a new fan, keep them coming.
Very kind, thank you xx
