Finding My Path

Where the sunflowers grow in the fields of golden luster
I am finding my path, where the whooping crane flies high
And my spirit is free in the wind at my feet, and my eyes see the light
My strength is that of a grizzly bear, my warmth, as warm, as the beaming sun
And my native tongue, will speak the truth, for the forests know my words
I shall leave no trail untouched, I shall leave no path unmarked, where the road
Ends, another begins, as the hawk cries out, and the mountain cat, makes his print
I feel the rapture of my inner spirit, the longing for the life thereafter, I belong
In the valleys of lavender, and prairie grass, I am blowing against each vine
As I talk to the skies spirit, the earth shall talk back, and they will become one
I shall run with the wolves in the olive green, of forest, and the pine will fragrant the mood
As my arms and my legs take one last touch, upon the land, where we were free
I can breathe, one last breath, I can hold, one more stone, and I can ride, one more horse
Where I will ride into the darkest of the night, and be free, once again, by the full moon
Under its power, we shall dance, to the tears of the deers in the woods, and the fox
Will no longer hide, we shall bring our native friends to the coming of a new world
Finding my path, I shall sing to the trees, and they shall take me away, with the wind
I am the Cherokee blood, the father of my children, and the husband to my wife
I shall never be captive, I shall never be punished, I shall never be anything, but myself
In strength, in forgiveness, in wisdom, and in faith, our path shall never be forgotten
Our path, we shall find
