Freedom’s Captor

Freedom’s Captor

I GAVE YOU ALL THE FREEDOM TO RUN TO ME,
BUT YOU RAN IN PLACE,
FROZEN IN TIME,
EXCEPT TIME RAN YOUR RACE.
Melting like tears,
Passing like years.
As you feel yourself run towards what was lost,
A sudden realization of how much your complacency cost.
As you reach the waters end,
A tear escapes, soaks your face.
You are at the horizon of your life’s choices.
You look down to see a reflection of an image, the image you believed to be what you had lost,
as you hang your head low,
you realize it’s only your own shadow.

You scream, wait!!

But…it’s too late.
