Santas Lost Reindeer

Pixal

When flickering lights set the houses aglow,
you'll see something rare in the form of a Doe.
This story was hidden by mystery untold,
about a lost deer who had strayed from the fold.

With elegant features that looked like a charm,
she kept the flight quiet while the children slept calm.
Placed alongside her brother who brightened the night,
the sleigh with those two was a marvelous sight.

But one Christmas Eve she could hear a child's call,
that pricked up her ears making all the team stall.
She leaped from the reigns, Santa couldn't pull back
and strayed from the pack heading way off her track.

As tiny hooves strode leaving prints in the snow,
she wandered around, searching high, looking low.
Until in the distance she heard a boys prayer,
had his hands covering his face as he sat in a wheelchair.

With a plea in his voice came the drop of a tear,
he'd wanted one touch of a snow colored deer.
She walked up beside him and nuzzled his hand,
the feel of her breath meaning more than just grand.

This one special moment had set of a spark,
that opened a door lighting up the boys dark.
Somewhere in the shadows as snow starts to fall,
a gift from this deer may bring peace to us all.
