Gone Fishing

Gone Fishing

Down in Southern Florida, deep-sea fishing is an easy thing to do;
For marinas have several fishing boats, their captain will rent his to you!
He takes you out for half a day, he provides the rods and all the bait;
My old partner and I both had teenage sons, who said they could not wait!
.
So we hired the boat for the next afternoon, two hundred fifty did we pay;
The weather was a bit overcast, with four foot waves that day!
I stopped at the famous “Rascal House”, corned beef sandwiches for lunch;
On the way out to the deeper sea, on them we all did munch!
.
The boat was bouncing up and down, each wave lifting it four feet;
Ten minutes after eating, seasickness our sons did greet!
They both ran into the bathroom, and were writhing on the floor;
They puked up all the lunch they ate, and then they puked some more!
.
Meanwhile, the captain and I got busy, and caught a few nice fish;
My partner was also green-faced, and had but just one wish!
To take the boat back early, and to get on to solid ground;
No more deep-sea fishing, new land lubbers ever bound!
.
.
                       Went deep-sea fishing
                 But most caught only nausea
                     Life has ups and downs

I've always wanted to go deep sea fishing. Wouldn't fancy the sea sickness though.

An enjoyable poem Larry.

Dear Syd,

The sea can be unmerciful.  I much prefer "fishing" for compliments, such as your very nice one.
Linda got seasick just reading this poem.  She had a similar experience once several years ago, before we met.  Only, she was in a sad situation where the boat could not come back early.  She begged her ex, to take her back to shore, but he "threw up" his arms, and said no way.

Peace and Love,
