Have You Ever Felt The Moon Cry?

I have worn the night.
I've watched Selene
drive her chariot
across the edge of heaven
and seen Hemera's dying breath
breathe out the stars.
I have borne the cloak that Nyx
had placed across my heart
and lost myself in Hypnos' arms
as I danced with Thanatos,
for I have worn the night.
So, if I ask you anything
then I will ask you this;
have you ever seen the stars
and wondered why
that all you ever wished for
has only served to bite?
Have you ever felt the moon cry
whilst wearing well the night?

Hi Cleo, thank you so very much for reading and commenting. I'm glad you like the poem. Thanks again I appreciate the support x
Being A Beautiful Poet,Â
You are such a lovely writer(and person). I loved that. It was sad, but gorgeously sad, and life tends to be sad for long, horrible, periods of time, but then shows glimpses of beauty.Â
Anyway, my awesome friend, you're really a terrific writer, and a marvelously intelligent person, and I really enjoyed reading that.Â
Hugs,Â
Matthew.Â
Matthew, you are a sweet person. Thank you so very much for being so kind to my work. I am extremely appreciative of your support, my friend. Thankyou for reading, thank you for commenting for voting, for pinning...thankyou, thank you and thank you again x
Being Thankful,Â
You deserve lots of praise, my friend, and lots of happiness. I'm honored just to know you. You know how you meet some people and you can just tell that they're intelligent, and also nice, and kind, and fun? Well, you're one of those people. Thank you for Being a friend...hey, that should be the theme to a show about some older ladies living in Florida!(Golden Girls joke). You're great.Â
Hugs,Â
Matthew.Â
Awwww...hugs xx
Soulful great workÂ
Hi Liliana...I'm so glad you like this new poem. Thank you so much for your kind words...and for the pin and votes x
Hi Tina. It's a beautiful poem. Thoughtful and mysterious. Such a delight to read. Anything of yours is a delight! Forever is still my favourite!! I cant help going on about that one!!
Px?
Hi P! It's a metaphorical write on depression, basically. Nyx is the godess of the night, Hemera of the daylight. Selene is the moon godess (in Greek mythology she drives the moon chariot across the sky). Hypnos is the god of sleep and Thanatos is the god of death.
So, Forever is still your favourite! Hahaha...glad it made that much of an impression ??
Thank you, P, for taking the time to read I am so very grateful. And thank you too for your lovely, fun comments. Thankyou, my friend, thank you so much x
You love the mythology. Its great use of them. I love metaphors. I didnt realise it was for depression. But defo very deep. Its brilliant Tina.
You're welcome Tina! My friend!! ???

Hauntingly beautiful piece that captures the darkness of depression and the heavy heart. Listening to Vaughan William´s Fantasia on a Theme, Thomas Tallis, it has that rise and fall. Stunning work from a shining star. Thank you for sharing. xx
Hi Tony, it's lovely to see you here upon the page (well, your comment... You know what I mean) Thank you so very much for reading and for the stars and likes and pin. I am so glad you like this and got the whole "vibe" of it. Thank you for your lovely comment too, I appreciate it and I also appreciate your support. Keep well (and well away from the virus) x
Hi Being Me, It´s a great pleasure to read your poems that are so deep and thoughtful, I intend to read many more over the long weekend that we have here in Spain, Your poems have a John Keats feel about them, who is also one of my favourites. Who do you read? xx
Well, I have an old poetry book full of works from great poets from the 17th Century to the 20th century. I love the poetry of Emily Bronte, Walter de la Mer, Robert Frost, Keats, Wordsworth, Robert Louis Stevenson, Louis MacNeice (however it is spelled) Shakespeare, Christina Rossetti, Elizabeth Barratt Browning, and many, many more. I don't think I have a particular favourite. I like to read poems that have a proper rhythm to them... Garden Of Proserpine... I love the rhythm and rhyme scheme to that (Keats wrote one about a Christmas tree in the same way... which I also love). When it comes to reading poetry I am a sucker for a decent rhythm and rhyme scheme or a poem that tells a story or just a poem that has amazingly beautiful lines of eloquent words. Basically, if a poem grabs my attention, for what ever reason, I will read it over and over again. It's food for my soul... And my soul seems to be forever hungry. Hope that makes sense x
Yes, it makes perfect sense, I possess a love for many of the works of the poets that you love too. There are a few that you mentioned that I haven´t really read so I will have a look.Thank you for sharing your likes and thoughts. xx
You are very welcome x
" I, SMILE ? "
Certainly not " I, Claudius " !! Talking over, for the sake of " REAL POLITIK " then, and there ? Surely ?
KNOW, HOW TO LIVE.....OR " DIE, ANOTHER DAY " to be remembered fondly. As, you could ? Right, or " wrong " ?
YES ?
:) :) :)
" LIVE, TO LEARN, TO LOVE " !!Â
" More " often ? All " things " considered ?
:) :) Especially, effective " management " I dare to presume. :)
An interesting comment, Richard. I definitely learn as I live. And most of all I have learned that loving someone with all your heart, whilst being the best person you can be, will only serve to desimate you when that person turns out to be nothing but a heart thief. And it is then that Nyx wraps her cloak around you. Thank you so much for reading x
this is an amazing piece of work. I felt like I was in a dream like state reading your poem which is great thing, rock
Oh...I am so glad you enjoyed the read, Rock. Thank you very much for reading and for the pin, I really appreciate it. You are very kind with your words of encouragement and I thank you for these too x
This is amazing Tina. I think this is one of your masterpieces it absolutely shines, I love it!!
Pinned because it is simply a wonderful creation đâ¤ď¸
Your talent overflows in this! The title, use of metaphor, the mood it portrays, the mythology the way it ends. It deserves an award this, it deserves a publish!! It's a shame to think it may not move further than here!Â
Awww... Wow! That is a really lovely thing to say. Thank you so much! I am very touched (and humbled) by your wonderful comment. I have woken up to this glowing praise of yours... and already it has made my day. Thank you again, I really am glad you like it and I a
appeciate you taking the time to read and comment... And also for the pin x
You're welcome, I just hope it receives the appreciation that it warrants. It deserves attention x
I am going to make my own website. I need to because I gave to market my book (children's novel not poetry) but I am also going to publish myÂ
Oetry there. I was going to put all of my poems up on here but after consideration I have decided to do my own website and publish them all there.Â
Thank you again for your kindness x
That's a really good decision! I'm sure it will be great!đ
And you have my full support and encouragement. Keep us posted đ
