I Died Today

I Died Today

As I sit here on the street,
I see you try not to look at me.

I see you look the other way,
You just carry on with your normal day.

You don't know me or where I've been,
Haven't seen the sights I've seen.

I've seen men be brave and men who cried,
Had to watch my friends as they died.

We pledged our lives and went to war,
Now everyone has forgotten what for.

I'm cold and alone and scared,
No-one knows me and no-one cares.

I feel the light is fading now,
I feel like I have failed somehow.

What will you feel when you hear people say,
I was a soldier living on the streets and I died today.
