Love affair

Love affair

‘twas a darkened summer –
Voracious in the bar
I look across the counter –
There you are.
---
My eyes glance ‘round the room –
Directed unto you
They stick upon your face –
Like a glue.
---
You see my lips moving –
Anything but clear.
Gestures say it all;
‘Come over here.’
---
I hadn’t met you once before
I didn’t know your name.
Comfort standing hand-in-hand –
All the same.
---
From standing up to lying down
Resting mine on yours,
We caress – we touch –
I’m happy for
---
Your presence in my life,
Your eyes focus upon mine.
Tonight begins a love affair –
Sublime.
