LUSCINIA LAMENTS

A splintered tooth wedged within
The plumage of an angels wing.
Faltering feathers, ailing her sail
Rid bony burden, to no avail.
Scaling rain and hail,
She soared through the skies
As sore flesh tore from a blemish, bite sized.
To her surprise, stormy showers then show
A cloister of colour, revealing rainbow.
Onward she followed, flying over the arc
Up until dark fades away waters mark.
A pre-determined perilous trail,
reveals a seal, a vanishing veil
enshrouded by clouds, full of gusty gale.
Unworldly winds soon whisk her away,
Through the blackest of holes, denied of suns’ ray
And there she lay, a bloodied mess
Spreading wounded wing, abreast.
Atop the reapers crescent crest.
In villainous void, silenced and bound
Unable to speak, or utter words sound.
Luscinias’ eyes glide down, where she found
A splintered tooth, wedged in the ground.
The saintly soul, still surrounded by cloud
Screams in her dreams, shouting out loud…
‘Thank God I’m awake
No more nightmares’ allowed…!
