Never too old to be Batman

Nick what are you going to be when you're older,
that was obvious, I was going to be the Dark Knight,
When robbers and evil masterminds came out of the shadows now bolder,
I would be there with armor as black as the night fighting the good fight,
Well that got met with some controversy,
of course my parents said I can be whatever I want in life,
but it had to be real life not just some move you see,
now I've decided to take that under the knife,
When told I'm too old to still love batman,
or that being him is unattainable,
I laugh every now and then,
and realize it's someones imagination is being kept in a stable,
Batman is suppose to represent whatever the public needs,
He is a crusader who fights for good and against oppression,
and takes the fall for others so mistrust and fear doesn't feed,
Protecting those who need it the most becomes an obsession,
I can still be Batman,
Fighting the good fight by volunteering, politics, or in the military
while taking a fall by facing criticism, bureaucracy, and the "man"
I just might have some armor that is a little bit less scary

From a whimsical childhood fantasy to a thought provoking introspective reflection on the aspirations of what it means to be an adult - and all in one poem! I liked it!
Thank you very much! I appreciate that analysis. That's a view point I didn't realize
