Over the Fence

Looking over the fence from where we stood

the grass looked greener, the people looked happier

they seem to be dancing

life looked good on the other side

we were missing a lot

We were green with envy

We complained and grumbled

Oh how we wish we were on the other side!

We were promised heaven on earth if we cross to the other side

We were promised a change

What kind of change, we didn’t care

We struggled

We suffered

We toiled and cheated just to be on the other side

Now we are over the fence

If only we had known!

The grass is not as green as we thought

They were mourning not dancing

We are hungrier

We are hopeless

Life is no longer easy

The change we got was a change for the worse

If only we knew

If only we had stayed on our side of the fence!
