Paradise Lost

Never Let Go

Paradise Lost

Two pieces of a broken dream
Left floating on a summer stream
A diamond waiting in despair
Beneath the liquid laissez-faire

Simple peace and aching need
Imperiled by a jealous breed
Little fragments lost in time
Forgotten details of their rhyme

A modest sum that leads to two
Became a whole that wasn't true
Maybe value isn't real
Or something we weren't meant to feel

Where has all the yearning gone?
It fleeted as a frightened fawn
That ran into the darkened wood
As if it's grace misunderstood

If nature gave us something strong
A jewel, a will, a sacred song
Then why is it what we've begun
Has left our paradise undone?

Being Me

Welcome back to the Cosmoverse! This poem is just beautiful and says a lot in a beautifully poetic way. Sometimes, often, whatever, love doesn’t work out the way that it was hoped it would. This subject is often written in a cruel and bitter way (the sort of thing I've done in the past) but it hasn't been. This has been written sensitively. Very well done indeed!

What is not to like about this poem? It is gentle. It flows as easily as the ripples in silk. And it rhymes. And I love, love LOVE rhymes!

Good to see you here again!

Thank you, my friend, you’re the greatest! I really appreciate your kind, wonderful words(I see nothing has changed with people commenting on here, huh?), lol. It means so much to me that you like it because you’re sweet and smart, and a beautiful writer yourself, and yes, everything I write rhymes…even spreadsheets at work!! lol. Well, I don’t care if no one else likes my poetry, as long as I’ve got you and Marionette on my side, I’ve got the best! We’re the Three Marionettinaeers now!! lol.

Thank you my beautiful friend. M.

Beautiful,

left our paradise undone, such a wonderful ending to a piece of brilliant rhyme, imagery filled within a summer romance, and to top it all a magnificent sunset.  🌹
