Parting

Parting

The night leaves the sky and the dawn
Breaks the memories of you
For now you are gone and there is no-one
To mend the hurt and ease the pain
You came so far and I who loved you dearly
Held no thought of your departing
We walked happily heart in heart
Sharing with such joy those precious hours
We laughed and talked, the wine overflowed
And time raced on as time does
And we were saying good-bye
The familiar train parted us once more
You called before dawn and said the "Seven Seas"
Was taking you to Ireland and Bordeaux
For how long you were not sure
Many things we tried to say but could not
For now you are gone and there is no-one
The dawn has broken yet I cannot see
