Poem -

Persistence of time

I singled out your words
In a crowd of many,
words through an hourglass
filled the room.
I, the only one breathing
saw only you in the clouds of dust.
Time was our only escape
But time
like a quiet thief at night,
waits for no one,
I could not stop time
But gladly
it stopped
for us.
Words are timeless,
priceless particles
often taken for granted,
misused, abused.
But, I
In a room of many,
saw only you.
Time being a gift,
even more so through the eyes of regret,
wanted nothing more,
but I could not stop time,
gladly it stopped
for us.
