A Second Dream

A lost native boy, found in the woods, the wolves protected him, from all that sin
The northern pines, sheltered the forests, the smell of the mushrooms, the honeysuckle briar
The boy grew up to be a man, he hunted the deer, the elk, and even the bear
Lost but not forgotten, his brothers road in, with bare backs, and bare feet, hanging over horseback
In the heat of the wilderness, rose the wrestless fight, white against red, blood shed
Though the morning soon came, and the sparrows fled, the crows gave heed, the vultures dug grave
But a second dream, came true, for the warrior men, the Cherokee nation fought for their rights
And the young, women and men became one, gathered together, a family in one, and the lost was found
This native man, the leader, the tribe soon flourished, with richness, from the earth, and the waters
The crops growing in the fields, the fish from the rivers, the squirrels from the trees
All became one, without hunger, without disease, in the beginning, it was their dream
To love, to prosper, to be all that they could be, to see the sky, and the mountains be free
Nothing more, nothing less, just be given a second chance, that was their dream
