Poem -

Seize the Day

Before reading, I apologize for the small amount of profanity. The poem is cynical in nature and the words should be taken in humor, not offence. Thanks,
Shaun.

No one ever realizes dreams.
I think it’s all a load of shit.
Nothing is really as it seems,
And most folks really do lack wit.

Call me satirist
I don’t really care.
I like jokes with a twist
That shouldn’t be there.

I like heavy beer
Don’t hand me the pish.
I’ll go for the whiskey
If it settles your wish.

I’ll take a cigarette,
My lungs to clean.
There’s a lot to forget.
See what I mean?

Don't hand me a weed
And call it a flower.
But hand me its seed
And I’ll spare you an hour.

People are a bit like trees.
They need chopping to the ground.
A man must be brought to his knees,
To understand just what he has found.

Spare me your politics,
I don’t give a damn.
It’s all money from old tricks
So just live while you can.

Don’t talk to me of culture,
And this music you crave.
You’re an artistic vulture
I won’t listen to rave.

Just give me a bottle
Of that old Johnny Walker,
With no impulse to throttle
I’m a hell of a talker.

A few songs from Cash
A few more from Dylan
A few scrapes of hash
And I’ll throw you a shilling.

A few drops of pure,
Page, Bonham and Plant.
A few drops more
And I’ll give up my rant.

A great man once said,
Seize the Day!
But now he too is dead
So what more can I say?
