SHE EMERGED

She had questions that went unanswered
She had cries that went unheard
She learned to hide her pain inside
And never speak a word
She struggled in her silence
But you could see through her disguise
She tried to hide behind a smile
But there were tears in her eyes
She came to believe that she was nothing
That her thoughts and feelings didn't matter
Her self-esteem, her self worth
Like fragile glass, began to shatter
But what couldn't destroy her, made her stronger
And as time went by
She overcame her struggles
And emerged a butterfly
She became empowered, free
As her wings took flight
Now she reaches out to others
And guides them, back to the light
