Terry In Wonderland

The table was set for two, Alice band and I,
still the same, never grown up, even time may fly;
I told her my life, she said: 'You're lucky with a wife,
the Mad hatter, Doormouse and the Queen give me strife.
We had strawberries with cream and pink champagne,
looked at me whimsically and challenged me to a game,
'If you answer 'no,' you lose one point, five to leave,
you will achieve, if for once, you choose to believe.'
I made the score, free to go, when I didn't answer 'no,'
we had marzipan and lemon meringue, go with the flow,
cognac liqueurs, chocolate eclairs and creamy pears,
I heard the click of a cleft palate, must be March Hares.
She said: 'Next time, please try harder to say 'no,'
then you can stay here with me and help me grow,'

This poem is bursting with colour and flavour. It comes across as pure light fantasy but I cant help feeling that there is a dark seam running through it. But whatever it is, it is a pleasure to read x
