The Devil You Know

Covid-19 Pandemic

Wild
Eccentric
Impulsive

A girl who throws caution to the wind in the city she calls her playground.
Seeming busy to most but busy to none;
This is all her own design

You see
To be busy is to be distracted

A distraction based purely on fear from what she’d have to acknowledge if she slowed down.
Something the world has now seemingly forced her to do

Her playground has been closed,
Locked down so to speak.
And her friends;
as crazy and stupid and silly as she,
they’ve now devolved into words on a screen

“You are not stuck at home, you’re safe there”  they tell her

But her anxieties;

They rest in her mind like a bomb frozen in time, now thawing away in the “warmth and comfort” that her lonely home brings

She wants to self love but all she does is self loathe.

Safe from one illness?
Perhaps
But she’s now heavily ambushed by another.

And it’s without choice that she must succumb to the epidemic she’d been trying so hard to flee from all along

But I guess it’s better the devil you know than the devil you don’t
