Poem -

The homeless girl

It was raining and dusk was setting in,
she was sat in the restaurant doorway
on an old blanket; begging for change,
her hair was soaked flat to her head
and she was shivering.
I didn't have any money but I spoke to her anyway,
I said "it's wet and cold here,can I take ya home ?"
she looked at me,
smiled and her eyes lit up ,
"yes" was her excited reply,
so I took her cardboard box,
it really came in handy for packing the stuff that I had just sold on eBay.
