The invisible people.

Do you know I'm there, that pushed aside stray,
I am society's ignored castaway,
we're nobody's somebody, suffering with a secret tear,
in a world that's never been fair,
where are those that truly care.
Crying myself to sleep when daddy has beaten me,
a quiet neighbor living in wretched poverty,
starving babies perishing in a mothers arms,
while you go about buying your daily charms.
Independent women fighting for equal rights,
different color skins feel pain just like the whites,
frail and old with one foot in the grave,
vexed by vulgar attitudes with a crooked finger wave.
Widowed and heartbroken, when true love is cruelly lost,
descendants of an indigenous holocaust,
children orphaned by tragedy and warfare,
as media circuses promote idiots with no style or flair.
Battle scarred veterans back home with futile hope,
lonely children hooked on dope,
victimized because they love another of the same sex,
the interpreted word of God has made individual lives so complex.
Family members facing certain death of a cancer,
angst ridden teenagers looking for an answer,
special needs kids just want to be accepted,
clutching technological devices to feel you're truly connected.
Do you see a pushed aside stray,
society's neglected castaways,
nobody's somebody, suffer with a secret tear,
in a world that wasn't made to be fair,
where are those that truly care.
