THE LADY IN THE RAIN

Every day I see her walking
And where she walks it always rains
She comes from across the head land
And her face is grey and full of pain

Some say she lost her heart there
Many years ago
I hope one day she'll find it
And I'm the only one to know

She must of been a beauty
All though she looks so forlorn
Around her neck she wears some pearls
Her lovely dress is tattered and torn

Now in the distance I hear horses
And a silver stead jumps from the light
He carries a handsome soldier
Has he come to make things right

Yes look she's smiling
And the sun has dried up all the rain
Her pearls are shining brightly
And he's calling out her name

So that's the last time I ever saw her
And my walks have never been the same
Oh I can see why he loved her
The pretty lady in the rain
