The Landfill
It’s rupturing its seams
Consumed by demand
Lost sea of wasted needs
Expired craftsman's hand
No Need for a little adjust
Meant only for the tip
Now left corroding rust
With shoddy workmanship
One years guarantee
Cheaper to buy new
Might as well get three
And thus the landfill grew

The varied meter makes the whole piece conversational and colloquial in tone; even though the imagery is rather stark and sad. In fact, there is an undertone of regret and a sense of loss lying like a still, subterranean lake beneath the surface.
And the clever enjambment of the homonym (highlighted above) is just delicious!
It would've been so easy to make this poem preachy; instead, you highlight a growing problem without condemning or apportioning blame (and there's plenty of that to go round!!).
I love it ... and you.

Hey sweetheart, I love your comment...I'm glad it didn't come across as too preachy. I tend to get on my soapbox about things hahaha
Thank you for pointing out the enjambment of the homonym.. I enjoyed writing that part
thank you my Jason
I love you too XXX
I agree.
Thanks August :)
I Love that the whole of this poem pierces the heart of the subject matter.... nailing the greed involved ~ to the cross!!.....a profound piece that pushes the borders of social acceptance of corruption's inertia !!.....ALL STARS!!.....smokin' grooves girlfriend!!....... LOVE and ROCKETS!!.....T xo ?✳✴☀♥
Hi Tony, I think the world we live in is wasteful. Keeping up the Jones's is something that was brought about to ensure we keep spending. We don't want to be seen as having less so we continue to buy. It gets to a point in reality where getting a washing machine fixed costs more than buying a new one. I just find it barmy that we allow this to happen. So many people want to leave a low carbon footprint, but it is getting more and more difficult to achieve.

Thanks Linda, glad you liked this one :) xx
Hi Lorna,
it's absolutely true // buying a new machine is even cheaper than have it repaired ///it's all about money / material world / greed and corruption // money is the unit of measure, precious treasure, without price tag to oppressor seems to have no value at all //
all stars ✨

Leah
