The Leaves Have Changed

The summer grasses have now all turned to straw, a wheat winter white
The leaves of umber, goldenrod have all blown away
Now the bare of the tree seems to stare into the sky
With scars from the past to the present
As just a few leaves stay upon these branches, the stories told are many
For each leaf lost is a loss of someone, in a time of full bloom
In a time of doom, each memory will be flying in the wind
Until the new of spring brings another chance where we begin again
As the leaves continue to change, so do we
