The Little Job

The Little Job

She asked me to do a little Job
“It wont take you that long”
As my Mind drifted to the radio,
It was playing my favourite song
-
The news was on TV
And I needed to keep abreast,
The Job could wait, I'd eaten my lunch
I needed a little rest
-
I was running out of excuses
And I couldn't put it off again,
Opening the door, I looked up to the clouds
And decided it was going to rain
-
Her mood had changed and she started to shout
As she slammed the door with such force!
I didn't quite here the full rant,
But in there was the word divorce!
-
Wiping my brow, the job was done!
I surveyed my work with some pride,
She'll be happy with this, we'll return to our bliss
With my wife right by my side...
-
“Well done” she said, “Do the next one now”
And I think you get the gist,
As she reached inside her pocket...
And handed me a list!
-
I tell the tale of a lazy man
Whilst rhyming it in a poem,
I'd sign his name at the bottom of the page
But I think you already know him.

My Dear John,

When I was single, I was "listless"
I suffered from great despair
But finally I met the woman
Who will love me and forever care

.
She is very tender and doting
She often plants me with kiss
Then reaches into her pocket
And pulls out the dreaded list

Love,
Larry xxx
