The Prison Planet

PART 1: Arrival
After pulling a little heist job, I thought I would remain free,
But I was snitched on by a colleague, and now they have caught me,
I'm on a prison transport ship, my cell isn't very big,
I've been to this planet before though, time to get back to old digs.
The ship cruised close to the outer atmosphere, and set up in geo-sync,
The next part I was not looking forward to, the next part of the trip stinks,
My holding cell is a pod, and I'll be ejected to the planet itself,
The pod will tell me to evacuate quickly, before the pod self destructs, top shelf!
Three, Two, One BOOM, I find myself propelled, I'm all strapped up inside,
If I wasn't going to the prison planet, you could almost call it a ride,
The computer told me to get clear, once this pod finished descending and stopped,
The pod did exactly that, a bit of whiplash I think I just copped.
I unbuckled myself and ran, as the pod started to explode,
I think there were a few prisoners descending, it looked like a mother lode,
Some of the pods landed safely, and some men and women got stuck,
For those who were stuck in the pod, they were flame grilled like a roast duck.
Quickly finding my bearings, the planet was all just sand,
Crude buildings were here and there, and hard rock to stop it from being bland
Looking at the main building, I worked out which way was east,
And started heading for a hidden cave, he'll be happy to see me at least.
Two hours later I reached the cave, and promptly let myself in,
In a corner of the empty cavern, a seven foot tall man with a huge grin,
The burly man approached me, and hugged me like in a bear grip,
"I hoped you enjoyed your freedom, how was your return trip?"
After a few hours of catching up, I told him how I came to be back,
The man who snitched is a dead man, after he did I gave him the sack!
The burly man's name was Hayden, he was a really big sizeable man,
I told him we need to leave this place, we had to come up with a plan.
The pods were no good for tech, they self destruct when they land,
We needed someone with a technical mind, and hope that he could lend us a hand,
That meant going to the main complex, and mixing it up with the mob,
But if any here could do what we need, there'll be a man there right for this job.
So now we find ourselves walking for miles, Hayden was hesitant to go,
Not a lot of people can stomach him, there's something about him I know,
As we were walking through the pod carnage, Hayden grabbed an arm that I saw,
He smelt the arm for freshness, then his mouth morphed into a werewolves jaw.
He torn off all the cooked human flesh, and licked the bone clean with his tongue,
He dropped the arm and saw my look and said "Hey, you're just no fun!"
Hayden's jaw morphed back into his human one, and we carried on on our way,
We stopped outside the complex, it was now sun up and brand new day.
The mood in the complex was subdued, not a lot of activity here,
No guards ever patrolled this planet, the prisoners made their own beer,
"The person we are looking for is here, they just aren't here in plain sight,
What we need is a violent distraction, we really need to start a fight".
Hayden looked at me with confused eyes, trying to get me to delay,
I simply said "A tech expert won't fight, they'll be hiding away,
We start a fight then disappear, and check who's not here anymore,
Whilst all the violence is happening, we will ask for his services on the floor".
From all the great movies I saw as a kid, I decided to revive an old classic,
I'll get a beer and dodge and weave and sidestep, in amongst all the traffic,
And abruptly spill my beer on a dude, and duck when he swings with a punch,
This will work perfectly, we will have a tech expert even before lunch.
It was lucky for us, the Alpha prisoner came out just as we were exiting the place,
You could see the annoyed look in his eyes, no emotions on his expressionless face,
He had been here for many years, and he knows me and what I am capable of doing,
I don't think he saw me in all the chaos, if he knew I was here he'd start pursuing.
Back at the cave our tech man in tow, he looked way out of his zone,
But I put it to him plain and simple, if you help us then he can go home,
With that in mind we proceeded to plot, trying to find a way to get our hands on some tech,
The non existent supply mean't for hard scheming, if I don't leave this place I'll be a wreck.
PART 2: The Miner
A couple of options came to mind, to build a disruptor beam to shoot before they can blink,
We could fire this baby away at the vessel, and confuse the ship's geo-sync,
Then let the ship descend just a couple of miles, till it's too late to know what's about,
By then they will be in that infamous belt, and let gravity work the ship out.
The transport ships were built in space, and aren't designed for atmosphere flight,
Prisoners are transported to a dock, then loaded on these ships out of sight,
The plan could work, but we still need the stuff, there might be a stash of spare parts,
But we would need to locate them, I know who would know, I'll try the old miner it's a start.
The miner was not that far away, at least it wasn't back where we started that fight,
He lives alone and just chips away, I hope we don't give him a fright,
When we get to his building, and go through the trapdoor, we can hear chipping away down the tunnel,
The cave started wide enough, but as we descended down it started to funnel.
Finally we reached the miner, I made sure I made enough noise not to scare the poor man,
He knew we were there but still dug, "I need to chat with you if we can",
The miner smiled to himself, "What do I owe you with this pleasure"
"As you are aware from what you know about me, I am really not here for leisure".
I explained to the miner we needed some tech, so we could build a high tech device,
The miner grunted saying this and that, and most of what he said wasn't nice,
Then all of a sudden the floor gave way, where the miner was hacking away,
And watching him fall for four hundred metres, seeing him splat told me this was his last day.
What I was seeing I was still not believing, another city beneath this Prison place,
And I don't think Hayden uttered a word, the expression remained frozen on his face,
"What the hell is this place, and how long do you think its been here?"
It was a massive sprawling city as far as the eye could see, "I wonder if they brew their own beer".
I got Hayden to hold my legs, and I slid halfway down out of the hole,
And had a good look around, I felt like an upside down mole,
I needed to know if they ever went to the surface, I needed something plausible, some proof,
And over to my right about five miles, I saw an elevator shaft to the roof.
Getting pulled back up, I imagined in my head, which direction we would need to travel,
Still amazed by the size of this full on white city, I couldn't wait for this mystery to unravel.
Out through the trapdoor and out of the building, i kept my head pointed in one direction,
And scanned the horizon to see if anything was land marked, so I could make a visual connection.
Nothing was visible, so off I went, Hayden and the tech man not far behind,
Scanning left and right for as long as I could, hopefully something solid I could find,
Desert that way and desert this way, the place really looked lifeless and dead,
My determination to find this elevator, were the only thoughts in my head.
Finally two rocks far on the horizon, I said that this must be it,
All of a sudden two heads popped up, and without warning Hayden was hit,
The shot had just grazed him, as his mood changed in an instant,
He transformed into a huge werewolf, and now was covering some distance.
The men started running but it was too late, Hayden was there in a flash,
He bit off one man's face as he lashed out at the other, leaving a sizeable gash,
Hayden stood over one of the men, and smashed his ribs with his teeth,
Then for Hayden's best part, he opened his jaws and grabbed the man's heart underneath.
After the tech guy had recovered from shock, I slapped him around and said "Wake up",
He dribbled and stuttered, I supposed I should of warned him, Hayden was still just a pup,
If he didn't like you, you'd certainly know it, so come on let's see what we can find,
Hayden already transformed back into a human, the three started around the rocks then behind.
Walking around in circles and stamping our feet, might of looked funny to someone looking on,
But after all the squishing in the sand, finally we all heard something before long,
We all stood on the hardened circle of sand, and were transported to the elevator inside,
If those two guards knew we were coming, they know we're here, there's really no use for us to hide.
