The Wildcat

The Wildcat

In the twilight forest
spitting amongst the trees
a prowling spirit
through the bracken,
a ragged ghost within the leaves
a grizzled shadow upon the breeze.

Eyes of the sun“s furious glare
embers at dusk in the moonlight,
shy, solitary tail, through the eye
of Saturn“s golden rings
in shimmering starlight.

Under the talon stars
hearts to stalk,
through rock fissures
red with dawn.

Drifting silhouette
over the cold hollows
upon silent claws,
broken pearl fangs
fading with the moon,
and those raging eyes
at the mercy of the sun,
within the cold dew of morn.
