To Be Forgotten

To Be Forgotten

Who would ever want to be remembered
And have their faithful beloved lament
Exhuming loss from joy seized together
I trust I'd rather have mine soon forget

When staged to perish, spare sables of ruth
Funerary fane and dull orison
Adorn the rosewood with florets that bloom
And sing me in to a new horizon

And once the ground begins to glaciate
May the letters fall from the epitaph
Bestrewing sorrow as you walk away
And scantlings of caducity in ash

So wallow not for one you must inhume
Though I could not enact the same for you
