Togetherness

I come from many facets
To build a life of two
I whisper and I murmur
To the memory of you

I wonder what had happened
When the white dove said on cue

I remember when we threw
Caution out into the wind
And started life anew

Like a mare marred in the mounting yard
A withered bud at noon
A fallen leaf on pity's pavement
(a vibrant youth who passed too soon)

Or where I am this day

(this life now on delay)

If caterpillars can create
So beautiful a being
I'll rest my head and plan instead
A new world I can see
