when love hurts

I picked myself back up when I wanted to cry
I told myself I was worthy of much more when you said goodbye 
I told myself my love and presence has so much to offer the earth 
I made myself believe in my own worth. 

I knew I was always different 
not better but unique 
I guess that’s why sometimes 
you may think you’re stronger than me, as you think I am weak
you think that you are better
and that I am nothing at all
yet you’re forgetting I helped myself back up every time I had a fall

I did a lot without you there by my side 
I had someone else to be a sensational guide 
I believed in myself when no one else did 
you made me feel unworthy when I was just a kid 
you made out you were the victim as you always do
You hurt me yet you don’t even have a clue 
you’re so caught up in this fantasy life you’ve built up in your head 
maybe one day try telling the truth instead 
one day you’ll stop living in this fairy tale land 
maybe one day you will finally take my hand 
and finally be who I want you to be
