An Empty Branch

The artic ice glaziers are melting away
The waters are becoming warmer, some have even dried up and have gone away
A herd of elephants search for a drink, walking miles with their four strong feet
A nest of baby swallows grow to fly in the night
The branch now empty, the nest blown away, the leaves on the tree wither away
The young boy becomes a man, he hasn" t found true love yet
But he is wanting to grow up with a sense of meaning and value
So he enlists in the Marine Corp with a promise to our country
To do the right thing, to respect your fellow man
Follow your dreams for today, let tomorrow find you
In peace, and let love surround. all living things
The birds will fly, the waters will rise, and the young boy will come home to his family
With open arms of compassion, and pride
This poem is dedicated to my son
Happy 21st Birthday
Love Your Mom
