How Can a Love?

How Can a Love?

How can a love that once was fire
Lay cold in ashes grey?Β
Where goes the desire
That once enshrouded play?Β
Gone away, gone away
To where darkness is a place
In which midnight crowns the broken
And where the petals on a roseΒ
All fall from grace.Β
How can the vows that once were made
Mean nothing now at all?Β
How can the words all fade
To drift on ending's call
And left to fall? Left to fall
As never ending tears, and
Like the petals from a rose
Promises lay in tatters, now,Β
At the feet of the deposed.Β
A rose will turn to briar,Β
Full thorned by loveless sway,
And truth will out a liarΒ
That sends us on our way
Far away. Far away
To a place of phoney bliss,Β
In a land where shattered heartsΒ
Speak a soliloquy in tongues
Of loneliness.Β

It’s midday here,
it also reminded me of the first poem I put in here called β€œBut how do you know when?,”, and which reminds me we are all human.?, and now I have to do something with my hair! As my daughter will not leave the house with it like it is!! Her words??

This poem, touched my heart in a way I just can't explain.. the pain I feel from this poem is something I can relate to.. the message in this poem is deep and straight forward if you can read it in that kind of sense. I absolutely adore your writing and abilities to send a message through words as I am also able to do. It's not easy, and it's not common for a lot of people to do this. I look forward to reading more of your poetry.

Just read this 5* piece. This is a million dollar question that so many people ask at one time or other. How can a Love go? Seems to be a human weakness and human does change.Β

However, someone's misfortune is always a poet/ess's fortune - we know Love is a timeless subject for artists/writers!

Hi Yiyan, you have hit the nail on the head, my friend. Love in all its guises is, indeed, a timeless muse. What is the point in suffering heartache if you don't do something with it?Β

Thank you for reading and for your kind comment x

Just say what is, and not meant to cause hurts.

There's saying that poet/ess and authors thrive on misfortunes, be natural disaster or human tragedy (heartbreak/love fairs etc). You know what I mean -Β War and Peace,Β Scarlet and Black, etc

Melancholy delivered in spades the death of love and all hope blighted.
Awesome and oh so bleak a great read and we've all been there.
Disenchantment and betrayal well written and projected through-out.
Leaving no wriggle room for a ray of light or hope.
A message of love lies lost and abandoned brilliantly presented.
Tina many thanks and it's great to see and read a poet that is truly fearless when delivering emotions and feelings of the heart.Β Β

Melancholy delivered in spades the death of love and all hope blighted.

This is exactly the feel I wanted it to give, so a great big thank you for that comment! It's a horrible, horrible feeling...betrayal. I wanted to put that feeling into a poem because, as you say, we all know that feeling ( well a few lucky one might not). Thanks again for your much appreciated support xΒ

Tina being trying for yonks to give your poem five stars it rightfully deserves, but no joy as yet.
Will try again later when the pesky anti five star gremlin sleeps. The unpoetic sourpuss little bastard.
And many thanks again.

As a man, I am not at all ashamed to admit that I do believe in love .. my beliefs about it have evolved over the years & without going into too much elaborate detail here within the public arena, I am convinced that it can last & outlive those who experience the sheer awesomeness of it ..
There are of course many forms, such as the love between a parent and his/her child/ren .. etc etc
Then there is theΒ  love between lovers .. This I believe is maybe more complex and undergoes more of a process that is likely to be peculiar or unique to each set of lovers .. although there will be certain features that are more generalised ...
Relationships of course invariably begin with a certain attraction, this is often but not exclusively of a physical nature since sex is one of our basic human needs ... However, love can develop with or without such intimacy ...
Sheesh, I think I have rambled on too long without saying very much at all ... but before I go, I also admit to having spent much time pondering the subject and writing about it too .. Should you or anyone be interested in my thoughts on this matter .. please feel free to contact me & I would be more than happy to share ....
Your poem by the way was really cool Tina & thoroughly enjoyed .. :) x

Love is love!Β  If love was once there, true love, then it will always be there β€” it willΒ  won't it?Β  Surely?Β  True love is ever lasting β€” LOVE is forever ... we cannot just let go of love and move on to another "love"Β  ...Β  and so it is, then, that thoughts like this create a path for heartache.Β  I could talk about love all day and all night lol ... it fascinates me.Β

Thanks for reading this again Neville xx
